- Event: Revamped “Hall of Nuclear Power: Atoms Serving the Nation” inaugurated on June 5, 2025, at the National Science Centre (NSC), Delhi.
- Gallery originally opened in 2016, now upgraded to modern interactive standards.
CONCEPT
- Objective: To educate the public and students about nuclear energy’s science, safety, and strategic role in India’s development.
- Scientific Content:
- Basics of nuclear fission, reactor functioning, and radiation safety.
- Insights into waste management and net-zero emission goals.
- Tribute: Honors Indian nuclear pioneers, esp. Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, highlighting India’s nuclear journey.
- 🇮🇳 Strategic Significance:
- India’s large thorium reserves make nuclear energy vital for energy security.
- Nuclear energy = clean, sustainable alternative amidst rising energy demands.

- Over 56 interactive exhibits in a 7,000 sq. ft. space.
- 3D walkthrough of a nuclear power plant.
- Real reactor artifacts & digital kiosks for deeper engagement.

- Immersive simulations, user-friendly interfaces, and modern display tech.

- Special focus on students, educators, and general public to promote scientific temper.

RELEVANT INSTITUTIONS
- NPCIL: PSU under Department of Atomic Energy, designs and operates India’s nuclear plants with a focus on safety and awareness.
- NSC Delhi: Part of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) under Ministry of Culture; among Asia’s largest centres promoting science literacy.
- NCSM: Manages 26 centres + 48 mobile units across India to spread scientific awareness in rural and urban areas.
