CONTEXT: RISE OF DIGITAL THREATS IN KARNATAKA
- Increase in fake news, cybercrime, and online misinformation threats.
- Recent steps – Cyber Command Unit (CCU) under the Home Department merged with Information Disorder Tackling Unit (IDTU) under Department of Electronics, IT & BT – centralized and tech-driven approach.
CONCEPT: AGENTIC AI – AUTONOMOUS DIGITAL POLICING
- Agentic AI – AI systems + operate independently + scan the internet, flagging harmful content, and taking real-time decisions.
- Key Features: Digital assistant for the police + Flags public harmful content (excluding private chats).
- Newly launched interactive government platform satya.gov.in — Citizens can also flag or verify content on the platform.
- Technology: LLMs and SLMs (language models) for task automation and data processing + In-house by skilled police IT teams, with traditional AI as the base.
CURRENT: IMPLEMENTATION & CHALLENGES
- Agentic AI is being developed to reduce manual oversight in traditional AI.
- Satya.gov.in will serve as a real-time public counter-misinformation hub.
- Challenges:
- AI hallucinations require human review.
- Data training, accuracy testing, and content moderation need consistent research.
- Limited budget of ₹5 crore for cybercrime may hinder AI scaling
