NEWS – The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will conduct two outreach activities
HIGHLIGHTS
- Launch Date: Scheduled for June 8, 2025.
- Launch Site: NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
- Mission Partner: Joint mission by ISRO and NASA.
- Indian Representative: Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, astronaut from India.
Key Objectives of Axiom-4 Mission
- Strengthening international collaboration in space exploration.
- Expanding public engagement and access to space.
- Conducting joint science and outreach activities.
Outreach Activities Planned
- Joint Public Downlink Event
- Hosted by NASA and ISRO.
- Designed to showcase international cooperation.
- Aims to engage the global public in space initiatives.
- Student Engagement Initiatives
- Two student events across India where Group Captain Shukla will interact directly with students.
- Objective: Inspire and educate the student community about space science and exploration.
- Amateur Radio Contact
- Continuation of an existing ISS tradition.
- Will enable real-time communication between students and the astronaut via amateur radio.
- Locations and participating students have been identified.
Scientific Experiments and Research
- Microgravity Experiments by Indian Researchers
- ISRO has shortlisted seven microgravity research experiments.
- These were proposed by Indian Principal Investigators (PIs) from:
- National R&D laboratories
- Academic institutions
- Five Joint Human Research Investigations
- Collaborative efforts between ISRO and NASA.
- Focus on human research.
Group Captain Shukla will be a participant in these experiments
